Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) is finally ready to welcome travellers, with commercial flight operations starting Christmas Day, December 25. The much-awaited greenfield airport will begin with 23 daily departures, marking a major milestone for aviation in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

NMIA Phase-1 Operations: What to Expect

For the first month, the airport will operate on a 12-hour schedule (8 am to 8 pm). During this period, NMIA will be able to manage up to 10 aircraft movements per hour, ensuring smooth takeoffs and landings even in the initial phase.

Akasa Air & IndiGo Lead the First Wave of NMIA Operations

Akasa Air will launch its maiden NMIA flight to Delhi on December 25, followed by direct connections to Goa, Kochi, and Ahmedabad. The airline has announced plans to scale operations to 300 domestic and 50 international departures per week as NMIA expands.

IndiGo will also make a strong entry, connecting NMIA to 10 major Indian cities including Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Mopa (North Goa), Jaipur, Nagpur, Cochin, and Mangaluru.
